Portsmouth, New Hampshire's Guy Capecelatro III is back with his latest full-length album and first for Dromedary Records, "North for the Winter."
Guy is an enigmatic musician and a prolific songwriter who tends to shun the spotlight, despite his contributions to an ongoing list of bands that includes Unbunny, Two Ton Santa, The Buckets (with Mary Lou Lord), Toast, and Beekeeper. He also has more than a dozen solo efforts to his name, albums that include everything from country to metal, murder ballads to found sound.
Recorded in three days in an old wooden gymnasium in Massachusetts, "North for the Winter" features nearly 30 musicians, enlisted by Guy to help round out nearly 50 songs. Of those, eighteen are represented here.
Despite the controlled pandemonium of the sessions, "North for the Winter" has a cohesive sound, 18 sharp vignettes full of musical and lyrical surprises. Musical saw, singing bowls and bouzouki compliment the usual line-up of guitar, bass and drums for a cinematic take on Americana marked by Capecelatro's subliminal melodies and erudite lyrics.
We're pleased to present you with this beautiful collection of lonely winter songs: "North for the Winter."
